ICYMI: GQR’s Stanley Greenberg: Dems Win With Anti-Monopoly Messaging

Findings show desire to take on Big Tech platforms and their economic stranglehold

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Tech Oversight Project spotlighted new research from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR) Research on the need for Democrats to incorporate more economic messaging into their closing arguments this Fall. The research appeared in an opinion piece from Stanley Greenberg of GQR and shows that fighting corporate monopolies, like the Big Tech platforms, is a powerful attack for Democrats to deploy against Republicans. The findings echo battleground polling from the Tech Oversight Project and Hart Research from earlier this summer that showed widespread support among voters for antitrust reform and tech accountability.

“Our poll shows that we make our biggest gains when Democrats take on the corporate monopolies that are driving up prices, despite making super profits. It contests the cost of living by hitting Republicans hard on doing big corporations’ bidding on price-gouging and taxes,” said Greenberg.

“In poll after poll, it’s been clear that going after monopolies is a winning issue for Democrats on the campaign trail,” said Sacha Haworth, Executive Director of the Tech Oversight Project. “Monopolies like tech platforms are responsible for inflated costs, opportunistic pricing, and driving smaller competitors out of businesses, and Democrats would be wise to incorporate that message on the stump.”
