SHOT/CHASER: Meta Allows Scamsters Defrauding Seniors and Vets, Silences Whistleblowers and Social Media Victims

Apr 09, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The Tech Oversight Project is playing shot/chaser – Meta hypocrisy edition. The Zuckerberg-led Big Tech giant, which has a lengthy history of silencing whistleblowers and is actively litigating to keep whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams under a gag order, is now trying to block social media victims from accessing legal resources that would hold Meta accountable for its dangerous product designs. This news comes on the heels of the landmark decision finding Meta and YouTube negligent for developing products that harmed Kaley G.M., the first plaintiff in the social media addiction trials, by triggering anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia. To learn more, view the evidence against Meta here.

“Meta gaslit an entire generation of young people into blaming themselves for anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, but the real culprit was always Meta’s highly tuned, engagement-at-all-cost predatory products. Internal company documents not only proved this in a court of law, but those documents also convinced a jury of Zuckerberg’s peers to find the company negligent for the damage it caused to a young woman’s life. There are millions of people, just like Kaley, who were wronged by Mark Zuckerberg and Meta’s senior executives, and it is despicable that the company is trying to silence their voices by blocking access to legal resources,” said Sacha Haworth, Executive Director of The Tech Oversight Project.
