The Tech Oversight Project is leading a coalition of Massachusetts and national advocates in sending a letter calling on MA-06 Democratic candidate Dan Koh to disavow more than $700,000 that AI super PAC Think Big has spent on his behalf this week in the final days before the primary.
“Across the political spectrum, voters want lawmakers to support stronger guardrails on AI development. Think Big’s political mission is to ensure that never happens,” the advocates wrote. “We urge you to put Bay Staters first by immediately disavowing this funding and the political project it supports.”
According to FEC filings, Think Big has spent $705,000 just this week on mail, TV, and digital ads to support Koh. Think Big registered with the Federal Election Commission as a super PAC in October 2025 and is primarily funded by Leading the Future, the AI industry’s flagship super PAC, backed by executives from OpenAI, Palantir, Andreessen Horowitz, Perplexity, and SV Angel.
Organizations joining The Tech Oversight Project in sending the letter are the Guardrails Alliance, Indivisible Acton Area, Mass 50501, the Massachusetts Working Families Party, North Shore Indivisible, Rise Up Western Mass Indivisible, socialmediaharms.org, The Carson J. Bride Effect, UltraViolet Action, and the Young People’s Alliance.
The letter sent to Koh’s campaign yesterday cites polling showing large bipartisan majorities of Americans are concerned about AI’s impact on younger generations, on jobs, and on privacy, and notes the district’s distinct stake in the debate: “Massachusetts helped build the modern tech economy and is home to many of the engineers, researchers, and workers who have made critical advances in AI. That makes the Sixth District home to an electorate that understands, better than almost anywhere in the country, the difference between real innovation and an industry spending millions to buy its way out of accountability.”

Dear Dan Koh:
We write to you as advocates for transparency and tech accountability to express our deep concern about the last-minute intrusion of Leading the Future and its affiliate Think Big, the super PAC network funded by MAGA executives from OpenAI, Palantir, and a16z. Leading the Future is pouring money into the race for Massachusetts’ sixth congressional district, spending over half a million dollars on your behalf. Leading the Future’s agenda has always been promoting policies and candidates that will toe the line for Big Tech at Massachusetts families’ expense, and we urge you to put Bay Staters first by immediately disavowing this funding and the political project it supports.
People in Massachusetts are worried about rising costs, harms to children, threats to jobs, the spread of deepfakes, and the concentration of power in a handful of technology companies. Recent polling consistently shows that large majorities of Americans across party lines are deeply concerned about AI’s impact on younger generations, on jobs and the economy, and on privacy. Across the political spectrum, voters want lawmakers to support stronger guardrails on AI development. Think Big’s political mission is to ensure that never happens.
Massachusetts helped build the modern tech economy and is home to many of the engineers, researchers, and workers who have made critical advances in AI. According to FEC filings, Think Big spent more than $700,000 in just one week on mail, TV, and digital ads to support you. Think Big was registered with the Federal Election Commission as a super PAC in October 2025 and is primarily funded by Leading the Future (LTF), Big Tech’s flagship AI super PAC backed by Big Tech executives from OpenAI, Palantir, Andreessen Horowitz, Perplexity, and SV Angel – companies that have endangered young people, stolen content from publishers and authors, funded hyper-scale data centers, and powered ICE’s deportation operation.
OpenAI president Greg Brockman and his wife gave the network $25 million, the same amount they separately gave to Donald Trump’s own super PAC, MAGA Inc. Andreessen Horowitz, the firm co-founded by Trump adviser Marc Andreessen, contributed $50 million, and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, a vocal Trump supporter, gave $250,000 to the LTF network’s Republican arm.
This spending is one front in a broader project. Through the LTF network, the AI industry is cozying up to Trump and working to derail efforts to regulate AI and drown out growing public concern about its unchecked adoption, despite Big Tech’s dismal track record on safety and warnings about economic disruption and the need to slow down.
As a former chief of staff at the Department of Labor, you spent years fighting to protect workers from corporate power – exactly what’s at stake here as these companies try to write AI’s rules for their own benefit. These companies are already at odds with the labor community, and we hope you will stand on the side of workers and families against the dystopian vision for the future that OpenAI executives are pushing, and urge you to clarify your position immediately by disavowing this funding and calling on Think Big and LTF to stay out of the race.
This is a pivotal moment for our country, our economy, and our communities as we confront Big Tech’s attempt to capture all the gains from AI. The decisions made now will shape the trajectory of this technology and of our society for decades to come. We urge you to disavow this funding, reject Big Tech’s advances, and fight to make sure that the rules governing AI are written on behalf of the public, rather than in service of profit at the public’s expense.
