DCCC Urges Nearly Half of Targeted Campaigns to Spend Millions on Attacks Linking Republicans to Big Tech and AI Industry

Oct 27, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – The Tech Oversight Project applauded the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for embracing tech accountability messaging and urging over 30 campaigns, of a total 69 races, to put millions of dollars behind paid media linking Republicans to the corrupt Big Tech handouts that are raising costs, endangering families, and enriching Big Tech CEOs at the American people’s expense.

“For the first time, the balance of power in Congress will be determined by how voters feel about Big Tech and AI. Battleground campaigns are putting millions behind ads blaming Republicans for letting Big Tech help erase millions of jobs, jack up utility and grocery bills, and corrupt Washington with sweetheart tax deals and data center handouts. We’ve warned the Democratic Party for years that Big Tech has created an unholy alliance with Trump and Washington Republicans, using those connections to advance its interests at the expense of our country, economy, and future. They put profits ahead of the American people. If Democrats take back control of Congress, they need to govern how they campaigned: by putting Big Tech to the sword, investigating them for corruption, and rolling back the handouts and giveaways that Republicans gave them,” said Sacha Haworth, Executive Director of The Tech Oversight Project.

Background:

  • Earlier this month, The Tech Oversight Project released a public memo outlining a closing message for Democrats on data centers focused on how corrupt sweetheart deals and tax giveaways from Republicans to Big Tech are driving up the cost of living, raising energy bills, and failing to create jobs – and how Democrats are supporting communities across the country that are fighting back.
  • Earlier this year, The Tech Oversight Project launched a publicly-facing AI super PAC ad library and research book cataloging Big Tech’s donors, spending, and the underhanded tactics they’ve used to influence and bully lawmakers.
  • After Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill was signed into law, The Tech Oversight Project issued a public report detailing the giveaways and tax breaks that Big Tech got from Washington Republicans, including provisions that substantially lowered the corporate tax rate, handouts to Big Tech’s data center buildouts, and incentives for Big Tech to partner with ICE on Trump’s inhumane deportation policies.
  • Following the 2025 election, The Tech Oversight Project issued a public report detailing how Democrats should draw on the electoral successes of NJ Governor Mikie Sherrill, VA Governor Abigail Spanberger, and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani to take the fight to Republicans on Big Tech and data center issues.
  • During the 2024 presidential campaign, The Tech Oversight Project led the charge calling out Big Tech’s behind-the-scenes effort to help Donald Trump draft and ultimately carry out Project 2025, which has undermined our democracy, increased costs for families, and helped Big Tech get richer at our expense.
